![]() ![]() Then I saw all changed files in SyncToy, a quick check (~one minute., LR-preview data are not important and I know in which photo-folders I worked.) if changes are MY changes -> a button press and files get synced.) (I use batch scripts to automate the mounting of veracrypt-bkup-hdd and starting SyncToy. With an half-automated bkup, where you see all changes, you immediatly see the presence of an crypto-trojaner. Otherwise you loss only the delta from the offsite / long time bkup. If the time the trojaner waits before showing his presence is longer then your intervall to the offsite bkup ALL your data are lost. Your work-data gets encypted and he is silent, Your automated backup is changed with the encrypted data, too. MACRIUM REFLECT 8 MANUAL FULLLonger: With a full automated backup / cloud backup you do not see, what / how much is changed/deleted. (Instead do half-manual-bkups regulary / scheduled /.) Simple: If you want to have a reliable backup use NO NO NEVER an automatic backup. I use a NAS for hot backup so all the computers in the house are backed up incrementally every night to one place. May eventually go to the cloud for cold backup. Incremental every night, full backup periodically, cold backup in the bank safety-deposit box, swapped with hot backup monthly. MACRIUM REFLECT 8 MANUAL SOFTWARETLDR: My main question is, I was curious what software you guys use to do photo backups, or if you do it manually? The primary drive will become the backup drive, and a new drive will be purchased for primary and off-site. I will swap the drives out every year, so the backup drive will be put in a case and kept in my house, the USB drive will be labeled and kept at work. That drive I keep in my locker at work so it is off-site. Third drive is the USB External, every 2 weeks or once a month after I am done putting files on backup drive, I copy contents of main drive over to the USB drive. I have just been backing up the catalog there as well as copying the RAW and JPEG exports there manually. ![]() I use a 2-bay USB HDD Dock and USB External Hard Driveįirst drive is the main drive where everything gets imported to, edited on and saved to. So right now I am trying to re-build my portfolio and am using 3 drives to do it. I lost all of my photos about 3 years ago in a fire (about 3-4 TB worth of Weddings, Portraits, Product photography, landscapes). ![]()
